KNX-based warehouse lighting control system implemented for IPACK Abu Dhabi with BMS integration, centralized visualization and sensor-based automation.

Client: IPACK – International Aseptic Paperboard Mfg. LLC
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Completed on: November 2025
We implemented a smart lighting control system for the warehouse at IPACK – International Aseptic Paperboard Mfg. LLC in Abu Dhabi.
The system includes full integration with the Building Management System (BMS) along with a centralized visualization setup. This allows facility managers to easily monitor, manage and control the warehouse lighting system.
The goal of the project was to improve lighting control, increase energy efficiency, and provide better operational visibility for the facility team.
As the warehouse operates continuously, the client required a lighting control solution that would:
The system also needed to support automation while allowing manual control when required.
After reviewing the warehouse layout and operational requirements, we designed and implemented a KNX-based lighting control system using Hager KNX modules.
The solution integrates the warehouse lighting system with the Building Management System (BMS), allowing centralized monitoring and control. The lighting control system uses multiple control methods including sensors, timers and keypads to ensure the lighting operates efficiently based on warehouse activity and environmental conditions.
The warehouse lighting system allows facility teams to manage lighting efficiently across the space. Lighting can be controlled automatically or manually depending on operational needs.
This improves visibility in the warehouse while reducing unnecessary energy consumption.
Motion and environmental sensors are used to control lighting automatically based on activity inside the warehouse. Lights turn on when required and switch off when areas are not in use.
This helps reduce electricity usage and supports energy-efficient warehouse operations.
Timers allow lighting schedules to be set according to operational hours. This ensures that lighting operates only during required periods, improving overall energy efficiency.
Outdoor light sensors adjust lighting based on natural daylight conditions. This helps maintain proper lighting levels inside the facility while reducing unnecessary power consumption.
Override switches and control keypads allow facility staff to manually control lighting when needed. This ensures flexibility for maintenance activities or special operational requirements.
Automation protocol: KNX
Control hardware: Hager KNX modules
Lighting control type: On/Off switching
Integration: Building Management System (BMS)
Control methods: Sensors, keypads, timers, outdoor light sensors, override switches
The system is designed to provide reliable lighting control and stable performance for warehouse operations.
The smart lighting system now helps the facility team manage warehouse lighting more efficiently while supporting smooth daily operations.
A well-designed KNX lighting control system helps warehouses and industrial facilities manage lighting more efficiently while improving energy performance and operational control.
