Project: MORO Hub – Green Data Center
Location: Dubai, UAE
Completed on: December 2024
A KNX-based lighting control system was implemented for the MORO Hub Green Data Center, covering critical operational areas including data server rooms, public areas, corridors and LV/HV rooms.
The system was designed to provide reliable and efficient lighting management for a high-performance data center environment. The solution integrates Building Management System (BMS) connectivity with centralized visualization, allowing facility teams to monitor and control lighting operations from a single platform.
Lighting automation is managed through keypads, override switches, sensors, timers and outdoor light sensors, enabling flexible control and energy-efficient lighting operation.
The project included several lighting automation components designed to ensure efficient lighting control across the data center facility.
The implemented systems include:
These systems work together to provide reliable lighting management across critical and operational areas within the data center.
The MORO Hub data center required a lighting control solution capable of supporting reliable operations in both technical and public facility areas.
Key requirements included:
The system needed to ensure both operational efficiency and energy optimization.
Based on our analysis and project requirements, we implemented a KNX lighting control system using Interra KNX devices.
KNX technology was selected due to its reliability and scalability in critical infrastructure environments such as data centers. The system integrates sensors, timers, outdoor light sensors, keypads, and override switches to ensure efficient lighting control across the facility.
The lighting system is also integrated with the Building Management System, allowing centralized monitoring and visualization of lighting operations for facility management teams.
The lighting system is built on a KNX automation platform using Interra devices, providing a reliable and scalable lighting control infrastructure for the data center. KNX technology ensures stable communication between devices and supports long-term automation performance.
Lighting in corridors, public areas, and operational spaces is managed through motion sensors and timer-based automation. This ensures lighting operates only when required, improving operational efficiency while maintaining proper lighting conditions for maintenance and facility staff.
Outdoor light sensors (photocells) monitor natural daylight levels and automatically adjust lighting operation. This helps maintain consistent lighting environments while reducing unnecessary energy usage in surrounding areas.
Lighting can be controlled through keypads, override switches, sensors, and automated scheduling, allowing facility teams to easily manage lighting depending on operational requirements or maintenance activities.
The lighting control system integrates with the Building Management System (BMS), allowing centralized monitoring and control through a visualization platform. Facility managers can monitor system performance and manage lighting operations from a single interface.
The implemented solution delivers a reliable and energy-efficient lighting control system, supporting the operational requirements of the MORO Hub Green Data Center while simplifying facility management.
A well-designed KNX lighting control system helps organizations manage lighting efficiently while improving operational visibility and energy performance.
