We completed the rectification and upgrade of the lighting control system at IGNITE School in Al Warqa, UAE. The project focused on improving system stability and reducing energy waste across the campus. The project covered four buildings and around 180 classrooms, along with corridors, public areas and restrooms.
The goal of this project was to resolve existing control issues and create a reliable lighting control system suitable for daily school operations.
As the school operates across multiple buildings with a large number of classrooms, the management required a reliable lighting control solution that would:
The system also needed to be simple and easy to manage for daily school use.
We assessed the existing lighting setup, control wiring, and usage patterns across the school buildings.
Based on this analysis, we implemented a KNX-based lighting control system using Schneider Electric modules to ensure stable operation and long-term reliability.
The lighting control type used in this project is On/Off switching, which is practical and suitable for educational environments where simple operation is preferred.
The upgraded system now provides:
All classrooms were integrated into the KNX lighting control system to ensure consistent and reliable lighting operation. The system provides stable switching performance so teachers and students can rely on proper lighting during class hours.
Lighting in common areas such as entrances and shared spaces was organized under controlled switching zones. This helps prevent lights from staying on unnecessarily during low activity hours. The system ensures proper lighting when required while avoiding power waste.
Motion sensors were installed in corridors so lights turn on only when movement is detected. When no one is present, the lights automatically switch off after a set time.
This reduces electricity usage and prevents lights from being left on throughout the day.
Sensor-based lighting was implemented in restrooms to automate switching based on occupancy. Lights turn on when someone enters and switch off when the space is empty.
This improves energy efficiency and reduces unnecessary manual switching.
The system architecture ensures stable operation across the campus and allows future expansion if needed.
IGNITE School now operates with a dependable and energy-efficient lighting control system built for long-term performance.
